I have just read on the BBC News site that after Harry Redknapp was found Not Guilty of evading taxation on payments to his Monaco bank account the following was said outside court by Chris Martins, from HM Revenue and Customs:
“Tax evasion is not a victim-less crime. We have no regrets about pursuing this case, it was vitally important the facts were put in front of a jury. We accept the verdicts.”
So is he suggesting is that it is essential that government departments waste millions of our hard earned cash on wasting court time and accusing people who are innocent of crimes they have not committed? Using millions of Pounds to chase thousands of Pounds!
I guess that I should be careful when I fill in the Tax form they sent me today regarding my State Pension.
